Jawaban: Two. Not really, they seem to be classmates

2. Where did the story take place?

Jawaban: A class

3. Can you guess the gender and age of ‘I’ character in the story?

Jawaban: A girl, teenager perhaps 13 or 14 years old.

4. Who asked the question “Have you heard of makeup?” in the story?

Jawaban: She (the narrator’s classmate)

5. Why did she say that “You’d look prettier with makeup on”?

Jawaban: Perhaps, she’s just being mean, commenting on the fact that ‘I’ did not put any makeup on but ‘I’ looks pretty. Or, perhaps she was concerned about ‘I’ who doesn’t look fresh without any make up.

6. Why did ‘I’ not say anything to her?

Jawaban: She/he probably thinks there is no point arguing with her classmate. She/he has her/his own belief about being pretty or make up. She/ he seems to try to be comfortable with the way she/he is. She/he embraces herself.

7. What does the word ‘intently’ in “She looked at me intently” mean?

Jawaban: She observes the face seriously and makes ‘I’ uncomfortable.

8. Have you experienced looking at something intently?

Jawaban: Possible answer: Yes, looking at a painting or at my mum’s new plant.
